I.The article presents the exploration of characteristics and behaviour of distribution costs of mechanical engineering enterprises of Ukraine in the context of logistics expenses investigation. The study is focusing on actually working Ukrainian companies that shows their financial statements as obligatory accountability for securities emitters. The key method used is a statistical analysis of distribution costs values in income statements for 2012–2014 financial years across 70 enterprises in this sphere. On the basis of correlation and frequency analysis, the work describes important relationships and common behaviour patterns between distribution costs, sales volumes, manufacturing expenses, firm staff size and sphere of its activity. The analysis discovered that in most of active mechanical engineering enterprises in Ukraine the distribution costs fit the range from 1 to 10% of revenue amount with the total sample average about 4%.
