Является ли наукой «Фэн Шуй»?

Abstract

China has a long history and belongs to the only ancient civilization, which was not interrupted and spawned a proud and deep culture, the representative of which is the «Feng Shui». «Feng Shui» is a specific cultural heritage that has been preserved in China for thousands of years since ancient times. Although it originated in China, but it arouses the interest and is widely popular in the world. In recent years, Japan and South Korea want to apply for the registration of «Feng Shui» as a «world non-material cultural heritage». «Feng Shui» has a deep philosophical meaning, since its main goal is «that man is an integral part of nature». This is the rule for survival, inherited from the ancient Chinese and based on adaptation to the natural environment, choice of habitat as well as on the observance of the laws of nature to achieve the highest state of harmony between man and nature. Humanity is facing the global environmental crisis, and more and more people realize the connection with this of scientific elements contained in the «Feng Shui» of China. However, at the same time, in the process of historical inheritance, «Feng Shui» is inevitably used by certain categories of people for the sake of profit, and they have introduced metaphysical and mystical elements («mysterious colors») to a certain extent in «Feng Shui». Although many events related to «Feng Shui» cannot be adequately explained in terms of modern scientific views, nevertheless, «Feng Shui» is widely and fruitfully applied in life, especially when choosing a place of construction and planning of residential buildings in architecture. This illustrates well its rationality. This article presents «Feng Shui» in three aspects: the concept, scientific principles, and application examples, so that we understand, applied «Feng Shui», and better understood the significance of traditional Chinese culture from a scientific and philosophical point of view.
