Abstract: Dynamic responses of sandwich composite plates containing impactinduced damage are studied. A finite element formulation of the problem is developed by using the high-order sandwich plate theory. The finite element code ABAQUS is used to create a finite element model of the sandwich plate accounting for geometrical imperfections, stiffness changes and intermediate contact of detached plate parts caused by impact damage and to fulfil the free and forced vibration analyses.
