The article considers the place of communicative competence in the system of formation of a competitive specialist. The importance of the constant development and improvement of this component in the context of the training of students of a radio engineering college is substantiated. A methodology for the development of students' communicative competence in the context of the modern educational process is described to ensure the required level of professionalism of these specialists.
