Abstract
The main features of the theory of color, the process of formation and interpretation of colors were analyzed. The theories of Isaac Newton and Johann Wolfgang Goethe have been investigated and a comparison of their main aspects is carried out. The issue of combining their views into a single indivisible theory is considered.
