Abstract

Using the generalized mathematical model of the dynamic arc, dynamics of the radius of the pulsed arc discharge and the pulsed laser-arc discharge is investigated. It is determined that the rate of change of the radius of the discharge can exceed the sound speed. In passing through the sound barrier, a shock wave that destroys the gas discharge protection arises. This should be considered when creating new pulsed laser-arc technologies and improving of existing pulsed arc technologies.
