Abstract
The short-circuit turns of excitation winding are characteristic damages of salient-pole synchronous generators. Simple methods to identify the
relatively small number of short turns, for example, changes in the value of total active resistance of winding are not sensitive. The analysis showed that the most sensitive method for diagnosis of powerfull electric machines is based on processing and analyzing the vibration characteristics of the machine. Using mathematical modeling were identified and analyzed diagnostic features that occur in the spectra vibroperturbing forces at short circuit turns of synchronous generator winding. It was established that the main diagnostic feature that can be used in the system vibration diagnostics and indicate the presence of said damage is the appearance in the spectrum vibroperturbing forces harmonic frequency which is a multiple rotor speed. The value of rotating harmonic vibration, which is obtained by integration of acceleration, is significantly more than the basic harmonic vibration of
electromagnetic vibrations that enables reliable detection of the relevant measuring by vibration velocity sensors. Researched diagnostic features can be used in the systems of vibration monitoring and diagnosis of the technical state of the powerful synchronous generators to detect short circuits in the coil excitation.
