Application of a MFC1000AcR frequency converter in a marine vessel propulsion system

Practical application of a set of four power electronic frequency converters of MFC1000AcR type with total capacity of 1.4 MW to power four motors of main and maneuvering drives of a ship has been considered, which makes it possible to displace, manoeuvre and automatically maintain the location of the ship according to GPS signals. Each of the MFC1000AcR converters is a four-quadrant modern modular device with liquid cooling. Climatic, mechanical and electromagnetic compatibility tests of frequency converters in the control system of a ship, conducted in accordance with the described procedure in extensive hours-long testing with varying load sample that reflects the research expedition, have displayed full compliance of all the requirements.
