Документ Roundness error and topography of hard turned surfaces(Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", 2023) Sultana, Jakiya; Sztankovics, IstvánAccuracy and topography are significant indicators of precision machined high-quality surfaces. Case hardened steel (16MnCr5) was analyzed to obtain information about the effects of technological data and the connections between the analyzed accuracy (roundness) and roughness parameters (Sa, Sz, Ssk, Sku). It was found that the feed rate has a significant influence on the roundness and the roughness parameters, and there are strong relationships between the roundness and these roughness parameter values: the correlation coefficients varied between 0.78 and 0.85.Документ Analyzing surface integrity elements of hard turned 16MnCr5 steel(Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", 2023) Molnar, ViktorSurface integrity plays a determinant role in the functional requirement of precision machined parts. In the automotive industry billions of components are manufactured by using case hardened steels. In this study some surface integrity elements, such as surface roughness or residual stress are analyzed based on systematic machining experimental plan to optimize the applied cutting parameters. Recommendations are made for these parameters based on the measurement data and some widely used functional requirements.Документ Determination of reliable area sizes for 3D roughness measurement(Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", 2023) Zaghal, Jawad; Benke, MártonSurface roughness characterization plays an important role in the qualification of machined surfaces. As a result of the development of high resolution 3D scanning techniques, researchers and technologists have more possibilities to analyze surface topography in a more detailed way. The purpose of this study is determining the minimal measurement area size of surfaces hard machined by single-point and abrasive tools. Some important height parameters were analyzed: Sa, Sq, Sp, Sv, Ssk and Sku. It was found that the minimum area sizes vary for the different roughness parameters, however, in several cases minimization is possible, depending on the purpose of the surface analytics.Документ Wear resistance of hard turned surfaces(Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", 2022) Molnar, ViktorThe quality of working surfaces plays an important role in automotive industrial components. One of the main characteristics of such surfaces is their wear resistance. In this study external cylindrical surfaces were analyzed. A Design ofExperiment methodology was applied and hard turning experiments were carried out to analyze the effects of the cutting parameters on the 3D surface roughness values of reduced peak height, skewness and kurtosis. The study confirmed earlier findings that at lower feed the wear resistance is higher based on the analyzed roughness parameters. The cutting speed and the depth-of-cut do not influence these parameter values significantly.Документ Tribology and topography of hard machined surfaces(Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", 2021) Molnar, ViktorIn machining automotive industrial parts by hard machining procedures, the topographic characteristics of high accuracy surfaces have high importance. In this paper 2D and 3D surface roughness features of gear bores machined by hard turning and grinding are demonstrated. The 3D roughness parameters, which are considered as more exact than the 2D parameters, were compared to the 2D ones, which are used more widely in industrial practice. The analyzed machining procedure versions were ranked based on the topographic parameters determining the tribological (wear and oil-retention capability) characteristics of the different surfaces.
