Документ Enhancing grid stability and low voltage ride through capability using type 2 fuzzy controlled dynamic voltage restorer(Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", 2024) Sajan, Ch.; Satish Kumar, P.; Virtic, P.The integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RESs), particularly Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS), is vital for reducing reliance on fossil fuels and addressing climate change. However, this transition poses challenges, including ensuring grid stability in the face of intermittent RESs. Compliance with grid codes is crucial, with a focus on Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) capability. Problem. The intermittent nature of RESs, specifically in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) based WECS, presents challenges to grid stability during voltage dips. Goal. To enhance voltage stability and LVRT capability in PMSG-based WECS by integrating a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) with an energy storage device. This involves regulating the input DC voltage to the DVR using a type 2 fuzzy controller, adapting intelligently to changing conditions. Methodology. DVR, powered by an energy storage device, is strategically integrated with WECS. A type 2 fuzzy controller regulates the DC voltage to DVR. The rectified WECS output undergoes processing through an isolated flyback converter. A 31-level Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel Inverter (CHBMLI) with PI control ensures high-quality AC output. Results. The validation of developed system is executed using MATLAB/Simulink revealing a reduced Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) value of 1.8 %, ensuring significance in LVRT capability. Originality. The strategic integration of DVR with PMSG-based WECS, addresses the LVRT challenges. The use of type 2 fuzzy controller for intelligent voltage regulation and a sophisticated multilevel inverter contributes to the uniqueness of proposed solution. Practical value. The developed system provides benefits by ensuring reliable LVRT capability in PMSG-based WECS with reduced THD of 1.8 % indicating improved grid compatibility.Документ An adaptive controller for power quality control in high speed railway with electric locomotives with asynchronous traction motors(Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", 2024) Chaib Ras, A.; Bouzerara, R.; Bouzeria, H.Power quality in an electric railway system pertains to the dependability, consistency, and purity of the electrical power provided to different components and systems within the railway infrastructure. Assessing power quality offers considerable opportunities to improve the efficiency of railway systems. Problem. Managing the flow of active and reactive power effectively, decreasing harmonic currents, and addressing the negative sequence component are all critical parts of improving power quality for electrified rail systems. As a result, flexible AC transmission systems are the major means of minimizing or decreasing these difficulties. Purpose. This study describes a half-bridge reactive power railway power conditioner (HB-RPC) with a novel Ynev balancing transformer. HB-RPC is made up of four switching devices and two DC capacitors and the compensator’s stability is determined by the operating voltage of the DC-link. Any variations or imbalances in the DC voltage might cause the compensator to operate in an unstable manner. Novelty. Of a novel balanced transformer with HB-RPC in a high-speed railway system with two scenarios. Methods. The study utilized MATLAB/Simulink software for simulation purposes. The system integrates a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and a PI controller to optimize DC voltage, ensuring its constancy and balance, with the objective of improving the overall stability of the system. Results. The simulation outcomes illustrate the efficacy of the control approach. Through a comparison of results between scenarios (two and four trains) with the PI-basedHB-RPC and the FLC-based-HB-RPC, the system exhibits enhanced stability for the proposed railway system when employing the FLCbased-HB-RPC, compared to a controller based on PI. Practical value. The proposed configuration elucidates its role in enhancing both the dynamic performance of the system and the power quality of the three-phase rail traction chain.Документ Power quality improvement by using photovoltaic based shunt active harmonic filter with Z-source inverter converter(Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", 2022) Sai Thrinath, B. V. ; Prabhu, S.; Meghya Nayak, B.Introduction. The major source of energy for a long time has been fossil fuels, however this has its drawbacks because of their scarcity, exhaustibility, and impossibility of reusing them. Presently, a shunt active harmonic filter-equipped two-stage solar photovoltaic system is showing off its performance shunt active harmonic filter. The global power system has been impacted by current harmonics during the most modern industrial revolution. Novelty. The proposed work is innovative, by adopting the hysteresis modulation mode with Z-source inverter to enhance the performance of the system. Furthermore, the shunt active harmonic filter also get assists in this system for better improvement in the quality of power. Purpose. By incorporating an impedance source inverter and a photovoltaic shunt active harmonic filter methods, harmonic issues are mitigated. Methods. Load compensation is one of the services that the shunt active harmonic filter offers, in addition to harmonic compensation, power factor correction, and many other functions. The current pulse width modulation voltage source inverter method is more expensive, requires two converters owing to its two-stage conversion, has significant switching losses, and has a low rate of the reaction. The new model, in which the voltage source inverter is substituted out for a Z-source inverter converter, has been developed in order to address the problems of the existing system.Документ Impact of fractional filter in PI control loop applied to induction motor speed drive(Національний технічний університет "Харківський політехнічний інститут", 2022) Hassainia, Saida ; Ladaci, Samir; Kechida, Sihem; Khelil, KhaledOne of the main problems of electrical machine control systems is to obtain a satisfactory performance in the rejection of load disturbances, as well as in the set-point tracking tasks. Generally, the development of control algorithms does not take into account the presence of noise. Appropriate filtering is, therefore, essential to reduce the impact of noise on the output of the controller, in addition to the machine output. Recently, there has been a great tendency toward using fractional calculus to solve engineering problems. The filtering is one of the fields in which fractional calculus has received great attention. The importance of filters in signal processing and other engineering areas is unquestionable Novelty. The proposed work is intended to be a contribution in the recent works conducted on the influence of the fractional filtering on the control robustness of induction machines control. Purpose. The main contribution of this research is the application of fractional filtering to the standard PI control loop for an induction motor speed drive. Methods. In order to assess its impact and benefit, different structures for introducing the filters are investigated, A first order filter is considered in different positions, whether before or after the controller or even in both positions at the same time, with a noise source. A review of the index performance evolution (the Integral Square Error, Integral Absolute Error and Integral Time Absolute Error) has allowed a configuration design of the filter. Results. Intensive simulations were performed with a control setup using integer and fractional order filters, which permitted to conclude that the fractional filters give better performance indices compared to the integer one and thus improve the dynamic characteristics of the system.
