Abstract

In this article the existing types of railcars and their classification depending on the destination were considered. Тhe main components of railcars structures that are common to all types were analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the functions and working conditions of these components. Also in the article focuses on the analytical methods of calculation on the strength of structural elements of railcars that are the basis for the rational justification for their parameters. Provides an overview of the standardsetting instrument, which should be guided by the calculation of the strength of the railcars, with particular attention paid to design mode. Theoretical information on the finite element method, which is recommended to evaluate the stress-strain state of the elements and components of the railcars, in particular, its calculation formula is provided. The most actual problems of contemporary railcar industry which will be resolved in the further were defined.
