Abstract
Проаналізовано діяльність В. М. Бакуля українського вченого в галузі твердих сплавів і синтетичних алмазів. Показано становлення галузі у світі і Україні. Висвітлена організаційна роль В.М. Бакуля при створенні Інституту надтвердих матеріалів, першим директором якого він був у 1960–1977 роках.
