Abstract

Herein are considered results of the research of capacity of corundum layer pistons mounted in sport cars engines working in extreme conditions, including high-speed competitions on sand and mud tracks and broken ground. During both ride and field tests there was no pistons burning-out, ring crosspieces were not destroyed as a result of detonation, there was no piston seizure due to repeated overheat, wear of pistons and liners has decreased, the maximum power of the engine has significantly increased, the maximum engine speed has risen to 800-1000 min⁻¹, the engines worked steadily on the whole range of turn rates.
