Abstract
The paper is concerned with the possibility of creating a motorcontrol system for an electric vehicle with a simplified 2-speed gearbox that improves energy efficiency, eliminates the need for the frictional synchronizer rings, and simplifies the design of the dog clutch. Itis shown that these results may be achieved by using the control system that synchronizes the gearbox shaft speeds and the positions of the dogs by control of the traction motor. The system is designed with using of cascade control approach and consists of 3 loops: torque control loop, speed control loop, and phase control loop. Two incremental encoders are used to measure gearbox shaft speeds and angles. The idea has been proven by computer simulation. It is shown that further research is needed to decrease the gearshift time.
