The problem of correct choice of ferrite beads
    (НТУ "ХПИ", 2016) Gurevich, V. I.
A ferrite bead is a passive electrical element used to suppress high-frequency noise in electric circuits. This is one of the simplest and the cheapest type of filters. Thus, such filters are widely used in electric and electronic apparatus for both domestic and industrial purposes. It would seem that such a wide application of these elements suggests that methods for their correct selection and use are well-defined. However, this is not quite true.

Stability of microprocessor relay protection and automation systems against intentional destructive electromagnetic impacts. Part 2
    (НТУ "ХПИ", 2011) Gurevich, V. I.
Problems of impact of the electromagnetic high-power pulses generated at nuclear explosion or by means of the special equipment, intended specially for damage of the electronic equipment, in particular digital protective relays and automatic systems, and also ways of protection from these impacts are considered.

Electrolytic capacitors: design features and problems of the choice
    (НТУ "ХПІ", 2012) Gurevich, V. I.
In this paper, constructions and characteristics of various kinds of electrolytic capacitors are considered. It is shown that problems and subsequent damage in electronic equipment are often related to a wrong choice of electrolytic capacitors. Recommendations for correct choices of electrolytic capacitors are presented.

Technological advance in relay protection: dangerous tendencies
    (НТУ "ХПІ", 2012) Gurevich, V. I.
In the article, the modern lines in the development of relay protection are considered: complication, increasing number of functions, use of non-determined and free-programmed logic, use of Ethernet and Wi-Fi communications channels, decreasing reliability. The article highlights the danger of the existing tendencies in relay protection development and the necessity for creation of new lines of relay protection that are independent of the current developers and manufacturers. The article calls for creation of an Expert Coordination Council of specialists for development of the general strategy and ways of relay protection.

    Electromagnetic terrorism: new hazards
    (НТУ "ХПИ", 2005) Gurevich, V. I.
A new kind of terrorism is considered, namely, electromagnetic terrorism. The history of development of this kind of weapon is described, and information on countries, companies, and leading experts in the area is given. It is shown that modern power objects are quite vulnerable to intentional electromagnetic action because of wide application of microprocessor-based protective relays and computers. Accessibility of special equipment allows carrying out successful terrorist attacks on such objects.
