Abstract
Electrochemical reduction (ER) of a series of alkylpyridylsulfonylnes at the mercury cathode was studied by polarography and preparative electrolysis. The conditions for selective Сру–S bond cleavage during preparative electrolysis were determined. It was shown, that the presence of the adamantyl substituent in the pyridine cycle affects the ER process direction owing to the changes in the character of the interaction of sulfones and their ER by-products with both the solvent (solvation) and with the electrode (adsorption).
