Abstract

Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute gave a start to life of a whole galaxy of outstanding weapons and military equipment creators. The article attempts to build a sequence of weapons and military equipment creating. Unique data on successful decisions when creating domestic models of equipment are presented: from the very first products to complex modern devices of the military-industrial complex. The article shows how many generations of outstanding scientists, graduates and teachers of the KhPI scientific school originated, formed anddeveloped, providing a high level of development of the country's defense and security sector with their hard work, ideas and designs. The participation of KhPI scientists and pupils in the Soviet atomic projects is considered. Particular attention is paid to the activities of Kharkov scientific and technical schools in the areas of aviation and space rocket technology in the 20th century.
