Abstract
The goal of the study is quantitative selection of characteristics for the individualization of the radiation dose of the patient while planning interstitial radionuclide therapy. It is proposing to use the method of processing the CT scan of the vertebral body with quantifying the state of the trabecular structures and bone marrow prior to radiotherapy of bone metastases. Bone status of CT scans and X-ray images carried out by analyzing the profile of the image brightness (densitograms), which contains information on morphological features of bone structures.
In a preliminary analysis of the possibility of quantitative assessment of bone on CT slices of the vertebral body L5. In the Matlab IPT environment was processed a rectangular area in the middle of the cut vertebra, with the definition of threshold values for binarization Hounsfield numbers. Graphical transformations of the CT drug results are shown in the corresponding histograms.
Histogram of binary image allows us to estimate the ratio of the area of the image trabecular vertebral body and soft tissue filling. According to the BMD(x) function was calculated the range of morphometric parameters of the vertebral body. The morphometric parameters indicates a thinning of the cortical wall at OP and densitometrical parameters indicates a decreasing in the mineral components. This method will allow clarify the treatment plan for treatment effectiveness increasing and minimizing complications.
