Abstract

Fatty acids are valuable products with application in various sectors of the economy. Soapstocks are the waste of vegetable oils alkali refining and one of the fatty acids’ sources. The disadvantages of current fatty acids technology are the increased soda and sulfuric acid consumption, and presence of sodium sulphate and soluble organic impurities – harmful substances, that are released into the environment. The results of a study of sodium salts decomposition by carbon dioxide to obtain fatty acids are shown in the article. The gained data prove the possibility of fatty acids sodium salts (soaps) decomposition by carbon dioxide. The rational technological parameters of the process were estimated and the approximation model of the process was calculated. The composition of the obtained fatty acids was determined by gas-liquid chromatography.
