Abstract

The high inflation at stable or raising exchange rate of lat leads to the strengthening of the actual rate of exchange, and consequently - to corresponding decrease of competitiveness of the Latvian enterprises. Regarding the developed countries the general monetary policy objectives deals not only with maintenance of stability of the exchange rate and general price level, but also with stimulation of economic development, growth of employmentand incomes of the citizens. The author offers the ways of the solving of these problems on the basis of main principles using the achievements of world economic thought.
