Abstract

This edition is dedicated to expand the theoretical knowledge of foreign students on the “Electric machines” discipline. The study objects are transformers and electric machines, which are the basis of electric power in various industries. The subject of this course is electric machines, which are used in practice to convert one form of energy into another: mechanical to electrical (generator), electrical to mechanical (electric motors), and power transformers, which are used to convert the parameters of AC current and voltage. After the fulfillment of the laboratory works the student has to know the structure, basic elements, characteristics, the principle of transformers and electric machines operation, features of motors starting, the ways of regulation their frequency rotation and breaking. The report shall begin with a cover page. The cover page sample of a cover page is given in Appendix A at the end of these guidelines. In the report on the laboratory work, it is necessary to formulate the purpose of the work; indicate the initial passport and obtained experimental data; construct the necessary graphs and diagrams. At the end of the report, the student must draw conclusions about the results that were obtained in the process of performing the laboratory work.
