Анотація
В статье дается определение понятия визуальной культуры, рассмотрены ее структура и основные функции, обосновано ее зарождение в культурной жизни общества второй половины ХІХ ст. Основное внимание уделяется проблеме становления визуальной культуры в трудах и педагогической практике ученых-преподавателей Харьковского Технологического института конца ХІХ – начала ХХ ст. Обоснована важность формирования визуального мышления у студентов современного технического университета.
The author gives the definition of a concept of visual culture, considers its structure and basic functions, and proves that its origin lies within the cultural life of society of the second half of XIX century. The major attention is paid to the problem of formation of visual culture in the writings and teaching practice of scholars and teachers of the Kharkiv Institute of Technology in the late XIX – early XX centuries. The visualization and the development of visual thinking were essential components of technical education for V. Kirpichov, P. Mukhachev, A. Rajewski, V. Stolyarov. The disciplines of artistic and graphic cycle as well as architecture took important place in KhTI. Its academics were convinced that a true designer is always an artist. The article concludes with the idea of great significance of creating a visual thinking for the students of contemporary technical university, which in its way contributes to the development of their creative potential and value orientations.
