Abstract

The article deals with the issues related to the production of coarse-grained chevron gears, which is one of the most difficult areas of heavy engineering and, in terms of its quality, is inferior to that of small and medium-modular chevron wheels. The manufacture of coarse modular Chevron quenched gears with finishing of teeth after quenching was not considered in fact because of a lack of technological possibilities. The possibility of processing hardened chevron wheels became possible due to the scientific approach to creating technological conditions for gear milling of hardened chevron wheels with special cutters. Applying the processing of chevroned hardened wheels on gear-milling machines with CNC special carbide cutters ensures the finishing of the teeth, which was previously practically impossible to implement. The provision of a perfect hobbing with worm cutters was achieved in two ways: by increasing the feed of the tool and increasing the cutting speed. Most preferably for finishing carbide-tipped worm mills is an increase in the cutting speed with a fine gear milling on CNC machines.
