Abstract
The modern medicine uses hip joint implants for replacing worn or damaged real joints. However, there is still the problem of the life of the implants, which depends on the durability of swivel bearing surfaces. This requires improving the design of the joints for better utilization of material properties. The design parameters should be chosen based on structural analysis of the joint. Finite element analysis is the best method to do this.This paper presents structural analysis of two-layer head in movable hip joint. Manufacturing techniques of two-layer endoprosthesis hip heads provides a combination of outer wear-resistant sapphire or ceramic layer with relatively small thickness and plastic core metal. Finite element structural analysis determines deformation, strain and stress in two-layer endoprosthesis hip head taking into account material properties and human physiology. The paper shows the parameters that have the most influence on load capacity of the joint.
