Computer method for examining the dependence of the balance of a hand-to-hand stand on the physical parameters of gymnasts

Abstract

In this work, we study the balance of a hand-to-hand stand using Kinovea computer software and biomechanical analysis. We show that the balance in the sagittal plane depends on the base gymnast’s foot projection on the sagittal plane and improves when it increases. Balance also depends on the heights and masses of gymnasts: the increase of the gymnasts' heights and/or the top gymnast's mass weakens the balance, while the increase of the base gymnast’s mass improves it.
