Guidelines for self-study in the course "Diagnostics and forecasting of the financial and economic condition of an enterprise"

Abstract

The methodological principles of diagnostics and forecasting the financial and economic condition of an enterprise are based on a set of conceptual approaches and analytical tools that provide a comprehensive reflection of the results of the business entity's economic activity, the structure and dynamics of its assets and liabilities, equity, income, expenses, financial results and the level of economic stability. The external and internal environment of the enterprise's functioning, in particular macroeconomic conditions, industry specifics, institutional restrictions and the level of uncertainty, have a significant impact on the formation of methods for financial and economic diagnostics. The approaches to assessing and forecasting the financial and economic condition of enterprises formed in the scientific and applied sphere reflect the peculiarities of the development of economic systems, the traditions of financial analysis, the level of development of analytical technologies, as well as the practice of financial risk management and anti-crisis response. Independent work of a student within the discipline "Diagnostics and forecasting of the financial and economic condition of an enterprise" is a purposeful form of educational activity, carried out in accordance with the tasks specified in the work program, under the methodological support and control of the teacher, but without his direct participation. It is an integral part of the educational process along with classroom lessons and acquires particular significance in the context of the orientation of education to the formation of analytical thinking and practical competencies. Independent work contributes to the development of the ability to continuous professional learning, forms the skills of independent search, analysis and interpretation of information, justified decision-making, as well as the ability to find optimal ways out of difficult financial and economic and crisis situations. The syllabus of the academic discipline provides for students to perform independent work, during which they master the methods of working with scientific sources, statistical information, financial reporting and regulatory documents, learn to summarize the results of the analysis and concisely present them in a structured form. The proposed types of independent work are aimed at forming a creative and critical approach to the study of financial and economic processes. The process of performing independent work is conventionally divided into two interrelated stages: – search, selection and analytical processing of recommended literary sources, financial reporting and regulatory and methodological materials; – systematization and generalization of the information obtained in the form of schemes, analytical models, tables, theses, schematic notes, as well as the implementation of practical and calculation and analytical tasks. To perform independent work, students are recommended a list of basic and additional literature on the discipline "Diagnostics and forecasting of the financial and economic condition of the enterprise". The results of independent work are assessed by the teacher by including relevant questions in the current knowledge control, performing control measures, as well as during the final assessment of learning outcomes.
