Distance education in higher education: quality problems

Abstract

This paper examines the main quality-related challenges associated with the implementation of distance education in higher education institutions. It highlights key issues such as student engagement and motivation, methodological adaptation of educational content, technological infrastructure limitations, and the reliability of assessment systems. Special attention is given to the importance of digital competencies of academic staff and the development of effective quality assurance mechanisms. The study concludes that improving the quality of distance education requires a comprehensive approach that integrates technological, pedagogical, and organizational solutions.
