Abstract

The properties of various types of transparent glass ceramics were analysed and the application prospects of lithium- silicate glass and glass-ceramic materials based on it for armor elements were installed. Basic system and corrective additives for the synthesis of model glasses have been chosen. The mechanism of phase formation and the optimal regimes of the glass thermal treatment were determined, which consist in formation of volume-crystallized structure of glass with lithium disilicate and β-spodumene in the amount of 80 vol. %, which allows to provide its high mechanical properties. The influence of the composition and amount of the crystalline phase on mechanical properties of experimental materials are given. Developed glassceramics on the lithium disilicate basis can be used as an element of armor protection of special equipment.
