Digital literacy in school physical education: insights from other subjects

dc.description.abstract | This study explores the relevance of integrating digital literacy into school physical education, examining how teaching and assessment approaches from other subjects can be adapted to enhance physical education. It focuses on ISCED stages 1, 2, and 3 within the context of general school education, corresponding to students aged 6 to 18. A qualitative systematic review was conducted, guided by two key research questions: (1) How is digital literacy taught in general school education? and (2) How is digital literacy assessed in general school education? The Scopus and Web of Science databases were used to select 11 relevant studies. The findings identified two main teaching approaches: natural digital literacy development and constructivism, illustrating non-guided and guided pedagogical perspectives. Four assessment methods - observation, interviews, performance tests, and written tests - were also identified, reflecting process-based and result-based perspectives. The review findings can help educators to apply the concept of digital literacy in school physical education. | |
