Сучасна назва – кафедра "Філософія", первісна – кафедра діалектичного та історичного матеріалізму.

Кафедра створена 20 квітня 1957 року з ініціативи Івана Івановича Чорного, який і став її першим завідувачем.

Кафедра входить до складу Навчально-наукового інституту соціально-гуманітарних технологій Національного технічного університету "Харківський політехнічний інститут".

У складі науково-педагогічного колективу кафедри працюють: 4 доктора і 4 кандидата філософських наук; 2 співробітника мають звання професора, 4 – доцента.

    Transformation of university as a liminal phenomenon: on the ways of human's searching for the self

    The article presents the analysis of the university phenomenon as the liminal realm taking into account it’s multidimensional mode as for social and cultural life as for human personality becoming. Investigation is aimed at interpretation of university as an area of multiple transition processes primarily concerning the individual status, self-consciousness and self-realisation that is individually-aimed and deeply-rooted experience. When analysing the experience issue the Foucauldian studies are used. There are also proposed certain ways of university and experience concepts comprehension considering them as the liminal forms: a) university as a liminal phenomenon of the Middle Ages (as a limit) in the context of individual life deep transformation, b) university in current transitive situation when it ought to ensure the sufficient means whatever for obtaining of certain professional skills or for formation of personality aimed at lifelong learning and self-cultivation, c) an experience as something human one comes out of changed as a crucial fundamental condition for human to be the self (including limit-experience), d) university as a mode of individual experience (including online-experience) within which self-university on the basis of inner personality limit is initiated. As human becomes the only meaningful boundary and the only achievable limit for oneself, in this liminal, transitional area everyone initiates one’s own university, a self-university within oneself, and it becomes a crucial fundamental condition for human to be the self, to occur actually, to be fulfilled. As in the Middle Ages university admits the ones with any social status, any nationality; university is the way of obtaining knowledge and truth including the personal truth about the oneself creating the special dimension of life which actually generates the one’s own existential position. These functions are still relevant especially if we take into account that university today is aimed at ensuring of lifelong learning and self-cultivation. It deals closely with the personal searching for truth and with living according to this truth.

    Care of the self as limit‐experience

    In the article there was made the analysis of Foucault’s concept of experience within contemporary anthropological crisis. It was emphasised that European humankind and culture have got hazardously growing distance between knowledge (truth) and human’s life (experience), and this situation necessitates searching for life practices based only on knowledge which is really required for the human one. Foucault uses experience in multi‐dimensional mode referring to knowledge, experiment, attempt, practice, etc. Experience is considered to be something human that comes out of the changed, and such comprehension of experience is asserted to be the core one. There assesses experience as a crucial fundamental condition for human one to be the self, to be fulfilled, and also there validates the limit‐experience as the required one. This kind of experience transgresses the limits of coherent subjectivity as it functions in everyday life, indeed threatens the very possibility of individual’s life itself, and tears the subject from itself. Both experience and limit‐experience are aimed at personal self‐transformation which obviously questions current conceptions of the boundaries of possible experience, and they are the only condition for the one to attain truth and live according to it. Since life and truth compose indivisible unity, there emerges obviously the problem of those mechanisms and techniques which could be the route for achieving harmonic human being. Antique care of the self is considered to be the most suitable and productive form of human experience and the most essential kind of limit‐experience yet. All the technics which form care of the self eventually aimed at teaching humans to find themselves via the refutation of everything which is not its own. All these laborious efforts of self building are focused on working out human’s ability to choose what is close and to deny what is alien, and it is the most challenging point in care of self implementation. For the moment there is no uncrossable boundary between subject and object, self and the world. Human becomes the only relevant boundary and the only reachable limit for oneself. One is doomed to the continuous process of getting each time new experience, to the endless conducting of new limits not out but inside the self. So human has come to real marginalisation – not via social or cultural prohibitions but via paving limit, margin though the subject and by itself only.

    Self-governance experience as an element of management in education

    Research is aimed at substantiation of the one’s self-governance experience as successful management obligatory condition in the education management process. Education is one on the top of the managerial practice list inasmuch as it aimed at cultivation of definite skills and competences among students for their further professional activity. Management as administrative, governance process has subject and object as the basic elements; they presuppose each other and represent the united system of management process. But in contemporary world it’s ineffectively to consider management only as a process of out influence directed at definite objects. To realize management strategy successfully each human one in the process must function consciously and responsively, and it is impossible without free conscious choice, full-value experience, responsible self-governance and conduct. Even as a management object the self is not only the area for management subject’s skills application. The one (self) is not passive but necessarily active constituent of management process. It’s significantly important to investigate management as the usage of individual field of one’s experience for general governance purposes, and it is particularly important in educative activity. That’s why research in management must be initiated with investigation of one’s experience as an open field of possibilities including conduct, governing (self-governance and governmentality) and care of the self as the essential aspects of freedom and personal self-realization. Only taking into account all these requirements investigation of management in education area seems to be relevant and forward-looking indeed.
