Кафедра "Іноземні мови» була заснована у 1950 році з ініціативи доктора фізико-математичних наук А. П. Рогінського.

Кафедра входить до складу Навчально-наукового інституту міжнародної освіти Національного технічного університету "Харківський політехнічний інститут". Викладачі кафедри навчають іноземній мові майбутніх спеціалістів різних інженерних галузей. Понад 20 років кафедра успішно співпрацює з Мовним центром Магдебурського університету (Німеччина).

У складі науково-педагогічного колективу кафедри працюють 7 кандидатів наук: 4 – педагогічних, 2 – філологічних, 1 – технічних наук; 4 співробітника мають звання доцента.

Artificial intelligence tools use in teaching foreign languages in higher education institutions

The article is about the application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the educational process of higher education institutions for learning foreign languages. The conducted research includes a review of modern language learning methods, an analysis of the benefits and opportunities of using AI in the educational sphere, as well as an assessment of the impact of these technologies on students' academic performance. Based on the obtained data and their analysis, conclusions are drawn regarding the prospects for integrating artificial intelligence into the process of learning foreign languages. Additionally, the article emphasizes the growing role of AI in personalizing the learning process, allowing for the adaptation of material to the individual needs of each student. Ethical considerations of using AI in education and the potential challenges faced by teachers and students are also discussed. Special attention is given to how AI can help overcome language barriers and increase student motivation. The article concludes with a discussion on the future development of AI technologies and their potential impact on the transformation of traditional teaching methods.

The concept of phrasal verbs in english

To begin with, we are to define the concept of a phrasal verb. According to the Wikipedia, a phrasal verb consists of a main verb combined with an adverb or a preposition, or both. Usually, the meaning of phrasal verbs is not directly evident from the definitions of the individual words. Phrasal verbs are abundant in the English language, with estimates suggesting there are at least twenty-five thousand such expressions.
English language slang and its peculiarities

The lexical composition of the English language contains a large number of slang entities corresponding to the certain age and professional groups of people. Slang is evolving, and it changes very quickly. Speaking of a foreign language as a native one is, first of all, the ability to easily and naturally communicate on any topic with its native speakers, regardless of their gender, age, cultural and other individual characteristics. This is the same lively conversational speech that you hear in shops, cafes and clubs, in public transport and outside when travelling abroad. A significant part of it is the so-called non-literary vocabulary - jargon and slang, which we will talk about in this article. To clearly understand English youth slang and use it confidently and tastefully in appropriate.
The aspect of physiological idiomatic expressions in everyday English language

The lexical composition of the English language contains a large number of idioms corresponding to the certain age and people’s physiology. Idioms are evolving, and they may change and get out of use from time to time. Speaking of a foreign language as a native one is, first of all, the ability to easily and naturally communicate on any topic with its native speakers, regardless of their gender, age, cultural and other individual characteristics. This is the same lively conversational speech that you hear in shops, cafes and clubs, in public transport and outside when travelling abroad. A significant part of it is an idiom, which we are to talk about in this article. In our humble opinion, we are to define the term “an idiomatic expression” or “an idiom”. According to the Oxford Dictionary “idiomatic expressions are a type of informal language that have a meaning different from the meaning of the words in the expression”. We would like to give an example of some idioms in English: “out of the blue”, “to hold the tongue” and “Break a leg”.
