Анотація

Process creation and termination facilities allow you to dynamically change the set of applications running in the operating system. Thread creation and termination facilities are the basis for creating multithreaded programs. Processes can be created by the system kernel during its initialization. For example, in UNIX-compatible systems, such a process can be the init system initialization process, in Windows XP - the processes of the environment subsystems (Win32 or POSIX). Such process creation, however, is the exception, not the rule. Most often, processes are created during the execution of other processes. In this case, the process that creates another process is called the ancestor, and the process created by it is called the descendant. New processes can be created during the operation of the application in accordance with its logic (the compiler can create processes for each stage of compilation, the web server - to process incoming requests) or directly at the user's request (for example, from the command interpreter, graphical shell or file manager).
