Methodological guidelines on "History of Ukrainian Statehood"

Abstract

Studying the "History of Ukrainian Statehood" discipline is important in contemporary conditions when Ukraine implements a European integration vector of foreign policy in the face of full-scale armed Russian aggression. Historical memory is the basis of national identity, which, in turn, is the basis of any state's social and economic stability. Understanding the historical context of the process of national statehood should help master`s level students deepen the study of Ukrainian history. Studying the socio-political, legal, military and economic content of the process of Ukrainian statehood should help students navigate the complex conditions of today and understand how their professional knowledge can contribute to strengthening their own statehood. "History of Ukrainian Statehood" is closely related to other humanitarian disciplines, such as philosophy, political science, sociology, and law. At the same time, it should be noted that this course is not a repetition of the school or university program in the discipline "History of Ukraine" but is a conceptually new academic discipline that deepens and systematizes students' historical knowledge. The course is based on socio-political and state issues, the domestic and foreign policy of Ukraine, and the activities of parties, movements, and public associations. The purpose of studying the discipline "History of Ukrainian Statehood" is to form a scientific worldview in higher education students and to cultivate a high level of political culture and patriotism in them.
