Recycling innovation in European circular networks: the case of multinational electrical manufacturing companies
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., 2023) Danko, Taras; Wagner, Ralf; Chaikova, Olena
The circular economy (CE) concept is gaining prominence in addressing the global sustainability crisis. Multinational electrical manufacturing companies (MNEMCs) play a crucial role in the transition to a CE but face challenges in implementing circular practices. Engagement in circular ecosystems offers opportunities for resource access, knowledge sharing, and collaboration. This study investigates the participation of MNEMCs in European circular networks that are non-profit organizations and focus on recycling innovation. By fitting a regression tree, this study analyzes MNEMCs’ commitment to circular transformation based on their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rankings. By examining MNEMCs’ involvement in European circular networks, it also explores the implications for recycling innovation within the sector. The findings contribute to understanding the dynamics of recycling innovation in the context of MNEMCs operating within European circular networks.

Global ecosystem-based strategy of international firm under conditions of increasing technological dynamism
(Szkoła Główna Handlowa w Warszawie, Polska, 2023) Danko, Taras
The paper explores the impact of increasing technological dynamism on international firms. It emphasizes the growing importance of innovation ecosystems for firm success in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The paper proposes and preliminarily tests a framework for an ecosystem-based strategy for international firms under high technological dynamism. It examines key considerations for multinational corporations (MNCs) in adopting such strategies, their implementation, and the outcomes and performance implications. The study uses a retrospective case study methodology, focusing on the manufacturing execution systems market as an illustrative example. The findings suggest that participation in global innovation ecosystems is crucial for the continuous success and resilience of international firms in this dynamic environment.

Corporate foresight capability in international business: towards organizational resilience in the fourth industrial revolution context
    (2021) Danko, Taras; Shyriaieva, N. V.
The acceleration of chaotic changes and disruptions caused by the fourth industrial revolution raises the problem of organizational readiness for a highly volatile and turbulent future. This problem is especially vital for international firms whose very existence relies on sustaining their specific advantages on a global scale for a long enough period. In particular, such developments call for a more precise look at corporate foresight cognitive function and its role in sustaining international firms’ organizational resilience in the fourth industrial revolution era. Consequently, there was selected a set of nine public listed MNCs that meet two criteria: fourth industrial revolution organizational recognition and institutionalized corporate foresight. The observed MNCs are Adidas, Bayer, BMW, Ericsson, General Electric, Renault, Henkel, Johnson & Johnson, and Siemens. MNCs of the highest resilience - Adidas, Ericsson, and Johnson & Johnson - are suggested to be viewed as the role models of corporate foresight conversion into the global strategies devised to survive the Fourth Industrial Revolution. At the same time, the lower resilience companies that seek future sensitivity have all the chances to straighten up their results in the near future. Their current behavior is of extreme interest for further in-depth study.
